About Paul Golding

Welcome to my blog. This is my 19th year in mobile technology and business. I’ve started out during the pre-commercial phase of GSM, which I spent a good few years working on. I contributed many patents to the field, most of them in signal processing and chip design. If interested, you can read a short version of my career history.

For the past 12 years, I have either been running a mobile software and consulting business or working as an independent mobile tech/strategy consultant. I have worked globally with numerous operators, enterpreneurs, VCs, start-ups and wireless software/hardware vendors, including most of the big names in wireless. You can read more about all of my projects in my project portfolio.

For the past 2.5 years, I was consulting as Chief Applications Architect for Motorola. The role was essentially in “solution architecture”, which is more elaborate than just software architecture, extending to user experience, business models and market trends. I was also chairman of the board of an internal innovations centre for mobile apps, called the Mashing Room - we made Mobile Web 2.0 mash-ups. So, guys and girls, I know how well, or not, this stuff really works!

This is a personal blog and doesn’t reflect the view of any company or other agency that I might consult for. As many might testify, my views are seldom the views of “the company” anyway, which is generally why I get paid lots of money to be the “creative outsider”.
