First of all: great presentation.
I agree that the development, deployment, and maintenance rules with web and that syncing, UI, and local sensor data will be fixed through standardizing API:s (or verticals like the iPhone or Nokia nSeries),
BUT:
I also think that it is easier to charge for “downloadables”. Maybe it is a mental shift that will occur, but right now the web does not have a very stable billing model for use (but only as mediator or store front) but “atomized objects”, virtual or real, has a higher perceived value than “cloudy stuff”.

Thanks Hampus. Your point about the user’s willingness to pay for downloadable apps is an useful one. I think that there are some interesting trends in charging that need exploring generally.
I didn’t mention in this slide deck, but I think that I mentioned it in another post, which is how iTunes could become a more general micro-charging platform giving developers a chance to charge for premium web applications or other types of content.

Hi Paul, excellent presentation, your idea of using open standrads, web as a platform, and mashing up native device data with web, etc are the exact same massage I am giving to IBM clients. Check out my presentation, http://www.slideshare.net/asheks/mobilizing-the-web-a-handheld-experience/
