With my desktop, I have two large format screens hooked up side-by-side and I use Mac OS X Spaces to run four virtual dual-screens. In other words, I can switch my two screens between any set of four virtual dual-screens (and even more if I like, but I seldom get pass these four). It’s a great way to organise the desktop - I can switch between apps/tasks very quickly, as long as my brain can keep up. (It struggles!) I put the Spaces-switch on the top roll button of the mouse, so the switch is instant.
