I’ve been playing with Aptana’s Jaxer. It’s a really neat solution for programming entire web apps - server and client side - in Javascript. It’s billed as “AJAX end to end” and is yet another solution for enabling rich web apps in an agile fashion. It’s built in to the latest version of Aptana studio, which is how I discovered it - having previously downloaded Aptana for its RadRails environment. Not sure how well Jaxer will scale, but I’m sure that sooner or later we’re going to find out!
